MEET OUR TEAM

The Vanderbilt Fusion Project is a 100% undergraduate-led research initiative. From ultra-high vacuum engineering to digital machine controls, we're designing our reactor from the ground up. Our goal is to provide our student team members with an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on, real-world engineering and design experience.

We're advised by some of Vanderbilt's top faculty and researchers, and we'd like to give a special shoutout to our primary advisor, Rich Teising (CEE Lab Manager).

Chief Executive Officer

Tommy Pennington

As the CEO, Tommy leads the initiative at an executive level and directs University relations. He directly interfaces with all system teams and manages the project. Outside of Fusion, Tommy's experiences include running a fabrication business and serving as a founder and CEO for a tech startup.

Chief Operating Officer

Logan Glazier

As the COO, Logan directs the system teams and ensures the Vanderbilt Fusion Project operates smoothly. Logan is a Civil Engineering student and is dedicated to making an impact. Outside of Fusion, Logan is passionate about sustainability and is converting a school bus into an off-grid micro-home to travel the country.

Chief Strategy Officer

Anders Westermann

As the head of strategy, Anders directs the long-term vision of the Vanderbilt Fusion Project, working with industry stakeholders and the university. He also manages our online presence, alumni outreach, and fundraising. Outside of Fusion, Anders loves exploring the outdoors and speaking Spanish whenever possible.

Chief Safety Officer

Kathryn Tam

As the CSO, Kathryn is responsible for ensuring the ongoing safety and regulatory compliance of the Vanderbilt Fusion Project. Including Radiation Safety, Electrical Safety, Flammable Gas Safety, and Workplace Safety, Kathryn ensures full-spectrum safety protocol compliance. Outside of Fusion, Kathryn enjoys contemporary dance.

Chief Financial Officer

Zachary Klinger

As the CFO, Zachary helps direct the business operations team and oversees organizational finances. Zachary is highly involved with our fundraising operations and works to manage our operational assets and long-term growth strategy. Outside of Fusion, Zachary is an avid Seattle Mariners fan and an Ingram Scholar.

Sophia Potter

As CPO, Sophia serves as our people officer and manages the team experience and community relations. From directing our social media presence to designing our team merchandise and promotional materials, Sophia ensures a top-quality experience. Outside of Fusion, Sophia is passionate about sustainable fashion.

Vice President of Engineering

Jackson Singer

As a Vice President of Engineering, Jackson co-leads the integrated development of fusion systems. Jackson specializes in Vacuum & Gas system design, and product manages design sprints. Additionally, Jackson plays a key role in managing VFP suppliers. Outside of Fusion, Jackson plays Club Rugby at Vanderbilt University.

Jackson Cornett

As a Vice President of Engineering, Jackson co-leads the integrated development of fusion systems. Jackson specializes in Vacuum & Gas system design, and ensures that all systems are compatible with the chamber design and operating parameters. Outside of Fusion, Jackson is an avid outdoorsman and traveler.
